I traveled to Russia in 2001 and 2006 but did not visit Moscow. Love the architecture and the colors are really vibrant in these shots. What a magnificent view you had. Yay! too for scanned images.
Cool! I left Russia one day before Putin took office.
Russia is a nice country to visit; it has beautiful places. I went to Moscow and Novgorod. Novgorod is a city about 4 hours away from St. Petersburg… is just beautiful, fresh air, lots of trees… amazing place.
One of my dreams was to visit St. Basil’s Cathedral, and when I was in front of it, I got chills down my spine… it was a really cool feeling.
Never been to Russia but wow, the colors and composition in this image are fantastic! It is too bad that the scans are not doing them justice. And, I bet you regret that date stamp in yellow!! Hey, gives you reason to go back!
Thank you, Tracy!
Yes, I’m going to rescan them again at a higher resolution… at least 600dpi.
Tell me about it… but you’re right! I should go again, and next time I should extend my visit to St. Petersburg.
Looking at the shooting angle, I’m trying to figure which hotel you were in. Probably the Rossiya? I think they’ve torn it down since then. I stayed on the other end, at the National. Of course, in real life the colors are not anywhere near that glitzy!
You’re correct, George, it was the Rossiya. That’s bad they torn it down… it was a nice and affordable hotel.
True, I over saturated them. When I rescan the photos again (I’m not too happy with their current quality), I’ll post process them better.
