That’s a bummer. :( I like this shot tho, very minimalist. Is that the right word?

Thanks, Ari. Yes, I believe that’s the right word since it’s just a building in a white background. Very simple indeed.

Aaaaah, so that’s where you’ve been. I’d been wondering why not much activity from you of late. I like this image. Although, I question where those horizontal wires end up? Do they really just stop at the building? Perspective doesn’t seem correct for that, but it could just be my eyes! :-)

Minimalist I like, especially these type of structures/grain-feed silos. Very nice. I get grumpy when I’m not out photographing. And I love trying new techniques. Keep shooting when you can. :)

    Thank you, Tracy!

You know, the wires don’t stop at the building… they continue across the block but they disappeared after PP. I should have cloned them out, huh?

Thank you Anna! I’m making some last changes to the project I’ve been working on, and hopefully after they’re finished, I’ll have more time to go back to my photography.

    Thanks for stopping by!

Actually, I think you could have kept the wires in going all the way across, and perhaps whatever else would exist at the very bottom right? Does that make sense? I think compositionally it would make the image stronger. (I hate to criticize other artists work, so please forgive, but I figure if something isn’t looking quite right/believable to me then it probably will be noticed by others). :-)

I like the mood this shot conveys (kind of like my mood as of late).

No worries, Tracy. I really appreciate your feedback, especially since you’re more experienced than I. Feedback that will help me shoot better photographs is always welcome.

I still need to understand what makes a composition strong or weak, but now that I will have more time, I will read the books I bought and hopefully I’ll get better at identifying those elements.

Now, let me give you a little background on the image: when we went to visit a friend, I took this picture. Because of the angle, the picture itself came out a bit tilted, so in PP, when I rotated the image to straighten the big building up, some cropping occurred… I either included the bottom part (which honestly I would’ve liked to keep) or cut the top of the building off the frame (which honestly I didn’t want to do)… so, I weighed both options and went for the latter.

Also, there were some other wires close to the wired fence bounding the lot, which of course were blurred because my focus was the building, and honestly they kinda, in my opinion, were in the way and added an unwanted element to the subject, so PP took care of that; unfortunately it “removed” the wires you’re talking about, and my untrained eye just didn’t pay attention to that detail.

In the next few days I will try processing the photo again to see if I can come up with a better composition. :)
